My hubby was doing some reading on the net and happened to stumble over this article that detailed some very disturbing data about what we are feeding our beloved pets. He was horrified to learn that in a huge range of popular brands of dog food, including the ones sold in vet's, were ingredients that horrible that he called me over to the pc to have a read. Most of the so called hi end "good" varieties of dog food contain dead animals from vets, zoos, pounds etc that are chopped up into little pieces and sold as pet food. Now what you have to realise is that whatever that animal died of ie cancer, parasites, disease ends up on our pets plate!
It doesn't get any better, another awful thing we discovered is that the drug used to euthanise animals is also contained in our pets food. This occurs when the manufactures use the dead euthanised animals as ingredients for the food. What happens as a result is that we are feeding our pets the very drug that the vet uses to kill them. Apparently this builds up in their system over a period of time, a little like mercury will in a humans body, and slowly but surely kills them, shortening the life spans of our beloved pets by as much as 10 years!
Then there are the evils of the by products used by most of the so called top dog food companies. Without writing an essay and putting everyone to sleep I urge anyone who loves their pet to go and have a look at a couple of good unbiased web sites I have found on the subject. I am currently looking for a Western Australian supplier of a brand of dry dog food that seems to meet all of the good standards that I require. The brand that I have chosen is Orijen, so if anyone knows of where I can get this from in Western Australia I will be eternally grateful. I was disgusted to learn that none of the recommended brands were available in the big chain pet supply stores, nor the supermarkets.
I am considering changing to the natural "Barf" diet at the moment for our beloved German Shepherd pup Ben as I am having such a hard time locating a decent brand of food. ... not only pet foods, junk foods is already established as a main menu for majority of big cities people. While junks foods known as a not healthy and contains high cholesterol.

Thank you for your comment :) Yes your so right about junk food for us two legged varieties. In our home we eat very healthy with my kids being only permitted to indulge once a week. I know they would be better off without any but this is our happy medium and works for us :)
